Our family

Beginnings

In 1986, Richmond Wright left his life of bartending in the New Orleans French Quarter to start a new life in Baltimore. After working odd jobs, he signed on with a temp agency, who introduced him to Catering.

A decade passed, and he had become a highly sought-after waiter and bartender in the prestigious Washington, DC catering market. One day, an event supervisor asked if anyone had some extra people who wanted to work. Rick raised his hand, and The Wright People was born.

27 years later, The Wright People is still strong, and its founder is grateful for the many opportunities it has provided. On his days off, he enjoys hiking and shooting, and likes reading authors like Stephen King and Lee Child. His pronouns are he/him.

A New Generation

When Tara Wright was 12 years old, they were dropped off from school one day at a catering event that their father was working. The event was just finishing up, and she helped her dad load the remaining equipment into the truck. The supervisor handed her $10. It was her first event.

Four years later, she was working the second inauguration of George W. Bush, at Union Station in Washington, DC.

Tara has been at most of The Wright People's events for the last 20 years, and has held every role, from waiter, to bartender, to scraping dirty dishes and repacking them in crates to planning and supervising the whole event. She knows catering like the back of her hand, and her experience and pleasant attitude have been key to the success of many parties.

In their free time, Tara plays the guitar, enjoys games from the Final Fantasy series, and is currently reading book 4 of Game Of Thrones. Her pronouns are she/her and they/them.

Passing The Torch

Today, Tara and Rick work hand in hand to provide the best staff and service they can. Rick has retired from working events, trusting the day-of management to Tara. Even as Tara takes a larger hand in the direction of the company, Rick's guidance and mentorship remain as essential as his skills at office management.

We know what it's like to work with family. We hope you'll let us work with yours!
